Admission requirements to our academic programmes vary depending on the academic programme a student is applying for. However, there are general requirements for admission into our diploma, certificate and short courses. These are outlined below.

For admission requirements specific to a particular programme, please follow the programme details section on our academic programmes page. To get a general overview of the admission requirements to the different levels of education, please read below.

Certificate Programmes

The entry requirement into our certificate programmes is a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 3 passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.

Ordinary Diploma Programmes

We allow two forms of entry into our Diploma programmes, that is, Direct Entry and Certificate Entry.

Direct Entry

Direct entry applies to candidates who just completed their Advanced level of Education recently (not more than 3 years back) and would like to use their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education for Admission into the institution.

The admission requirements for direct entry into our diploma programmes are a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 credits obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent, and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least 1 Principal pass and 2 subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.

Certificate Entry

Certificate entry applies to candidates who have pursued a certificate programme in the past and want to use their certificates to apply to our Diploma programmes.

The admission requirements for the certificate entry into our diploma programmes are a relevant Certificate from a recognized higher institution of learning, and a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 3 passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.

Advanced/Higher Diploma Programmes

The entry requirements to our Advanced and Higher Diploma Programmes are a relevant Ordinary Diploma from a recognized higher institution of learning plus either of the following depending on how the ordinary diploma was obtained:

  • EITHER a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 credits obtained at the same sitting, or its equivalent; and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least 1 Principal pass and 2 subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent;
  • OR a relevant Certificate from a recognized higher institution of learning, and a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 3 passes obtained at the same sitting, or its equivalent.

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

The entry requirements to our Postgraduate Diploma Programmes is a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized higher institution of learning, plus all other relevant academic documents depending on how the Bachelor’s Degree was obtained.

Bachelor’s Degree Programmes

Direct entry from schools

An applicant seeking admission into any of our Bachelor’s Degree Programme must possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 passes obtained at the same sitting, or its equivalent, and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least two principal passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.

Mature Age Entry

The applicant must be aged 25 years and above and must have passed our mature age entry examinations with 50% and above.

Diploma entry

A candidate seeking admission into any of our Bachelor’s Degree programmes on diploma entry must possess diploma obtained at credit/distinction level in the relevant field from a recognized institution;

Master’s Degree Programmes

The admission requirements to our Masters’ Degree Programmes is a relevant Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized higher institution of learning, plus all other relevant academic documents depending on how the Bachelor’s Degree was obtained.

Doctoral Degree Programmes

The entry requirements for admission into our Doctoral Degree (PhD) Programmes is a relevant Master’s Degree from a recognized higher institution of learning, plus all other relevant academic documents depending on how the Master’s Degree was obtained.
