The Center for Business Incubation and Enterprise Development (CBIED) is the entrepreneurship and enterprise-growth arm of the Directorate of Engagement, Research, and Innovation (DERI). It focuses on nurturing innovation-driven startups, supporting student and staff entrepreneurs, and promoting enterprise development within and beyond the Institute. The Center transforms innovative ideas and research outputs into viable, sustainable business ventures that contribute to economic and social transformation.

Key Functions of The Center for Business Incubation and Enterprise Development:

  • Incubate and accelerate startups developed by students, staff, and alumni.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and advisory services in entrepreneurship and enterprise management.
  • Facilitate access to business development resources, networks, and financing opportunities.
  • Promote commercialization of research outputs and technology transfer.
  • Partner with industry, investors, and development agencies to support enterprise growth.
  • Organize innovation fairs, startup competitions, and enterprise exhibitions.
  • Strengthen community-based entrepreneurship and support local enterprise development initiatives.

Leadership and Reporting

The CBIED is led by the Assistant Director, Center for Business Incubation and Enterprise Development, who reports to the Director of Engagement, Research, and Innovation. The Assistant Director manages incubation programs, enterprise support activities, and ensures that entrepreneurial initiatives align with the Institute’s innovation and development goals.
