San Institute of Computing, Management and Information Science invites applications from suitably qualified, competent, and motivated individuals to fill the position of Tutor – Communication Skills.
Job Purpose
The Communication Skills Tutor will plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality instruction in communication and language-related courses, develop students’ oral and written communication competencies, assess student performance, and contribute to the academic growth and development of the Institute.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and instructional materials.
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, and assessments in Communication Skills and related subjects.
- Teach courses such as Communication Skills, Academic Writing, Business Communication, Professional Communication, Report Writing, Public Speaking, and related subjects.
- Develop and administer assignments, tests, examinations, and other assessments.
- Guide and mentor students in effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Support students in developing academic writing, research writing, and professional correspondence skills.
- Participate in curriculum development and review activities.
- Maintain accurate academic records and submit reports as required.
- Support research, innovation, and community engagement activities.
- Participate in departmental and institutional meetings and activities.
- Promote the effective use of communication technologies and modern teaching methodologies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Skills, Language Studies, English Language, Linguistics, Communication Studies, Journalism and Mass Communication, Education (English), or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Possession of a Postgraduate Diploma in Education or Teaching Methodology is an added advantage.
Experience and Competencies
- Previous teaching or training experience is desirable.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to teach and mentor students from diverse academic backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal and student mentorship skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to academic excellence.
