Deputy Principal (Administration)

The Deputy Principal (Administration) supports the Principal in managing the administrative, operational, and institutional affairs of the institute. This role ensures that all administrative functions, including human resource management, finance, procurement, and facility management, operate efficiently and in harmony with the institute’s strategic objectives.

The Deputy Principal (Administration) provides leadership and direction to non-academic departments and plays a key role in creating a conducive environment for academic and institutional growth.

Roles, Duties and Responsibilities of the Deputy Principal (Administration)

The Deputy Principal in charge of administration at San Institute of Computing, Management and Information Science performs the following roles, duties and responsibilities:

1. Institutional Administration

  • Oversee the day-to-day administrative operations of the institute.
  • Supervise administrative departments such as Human Resources, Estates, Transport, and Security.
  • Ensure efficient implementation of administrative policies, procedures, and decisions.

2. Human Resource Management

  • Supervise recruitment, appointment, promotion, and discipline of administrative and support staff.
  • Oversee performance management and staff welfare programs.
  • Promote a positive and productive institutional culture.

3. Financial and Resource Management

  • Support the Principal and Bursar in managing the institute’s financial and physical resources.
  • Participate in budget preparation, financial planning, and expenditure monitoring.
  • Ensure accountability and transparency in the use of institutional resources.

4. Infrastructure and Facilities Management

  • Oversee maintenance, security, and development of institutional infrastructure and facilities.
  • Ensure the working environment is conducive for teaching, learning, and research.
  • Plan and coordinate infrastructure expansion and renovation projects.

5. Procurement and Logistics

  • Supervise procurement processes to ensure compliance with institutional and legal frameworks.
  • Oversee inventory control and ensure proper use of assets and equipment.
  • Manage transport, utilities, and logistics operations.

6. Records and Communication

  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all administrative functions.
  • Facilitate efficient internal and external communication within the institute.
  • Maintain institutional archives and correspondence systems.

7. Policy Implementation and Compliance

  • Ensure all administrative activities comply with national regulations, institutional statutes, and policies.
  • Assist in developing and reviewing institutional administrative policies.

8. Staff Development and Welfare

  • Promote continuous training and development of administrative and support staff.
  • Oversee staff welfare programs and grievance handling mechanisms.

9. Safety, Health, and Environment

  • Supervise occupational health, safety, and environmental management across the campus.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee disaster preparedness and emergency response plans.

10. Governance and Coordination

  • Serve as Secretary or Member of various management and administrative committees.
  • Coordinate administrative inputs for meetings of the Governing Council and Management Board.
  • Represent the Principal in official administrative functions when delegated.
