School Deans

The School Deans provide academic and administrative leadership for their respective schools. They oversee the delivery of programs, promotion of research, innovation, and community engagement within their domains.

Each Dean is accountable to the Deputy Principal (Academics) and works collaboratively with other Deans, Heads of Department, and academic staff to ensure the achievement of the Institute’s vision of being a Center of Academic and Professional Excellence in Computing, Research, and Innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities of the School Deans

1. Academic Leadership and Administration

  • Provide strategic leadership in the planning, coordination, and implementation of academic programs within the School.
  • Ensure that teaching, research, and community engagement activities align with the Institute’s strategic objectives.
  • Supervise Heads of Department and academic staff to ensure effective delivery of programs.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of the School’s academic calendar, timetables, and teaching schedules.
  • Promote an environment that fosters academic freedom, collaboration, and professional excellence.

2. Curriculum Development and Quality Assurance

  • Lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of curricula to maintain relevance and quality.
  • Ensure that all programs meet the standards of the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and other accrediting bodies.
  • Oversee internal and external moderation processes and ensure adherence to academic policies and regulations.
  • Promote innovative pedagogy, e-learning, and blended learning practices within the School.

3. Research, Innovation, and Publications

  • Promote a strong research and innovation culture among faculty and students.
  • Coordinate research initiatives and facilitate access to research funding.
  • Encourage publication of research findings in reputable journals and conferences.
  • Support the establishment of research clusters, centers, and partnerships that advance the School’s strategic focus areas.

4. Human Resource and Staff Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate academic and administrative staff within the School.
  • Identify staff training and professional development needs and recommend appropriate programs.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, integrity, and academic excellence among staff.
  • Participate in staff recruitment, appointment, and promotion processes.

5. Student Affairs and Academic Support

  • Ensure effective academic advising, mentoring, and student support systems within the School.
  • Address student academic concerns, grievances, and disciplinary matters in collaboration with relevant offices.
  • Promote co-curricular activities that complement academic growth and professional development.
  • Support student research, innovation, and participation in academic competitions.

6. Financial Planning and Resource Management

  • Prepare and manage the School’s budget in consultation with the Bursar and relevant committees.
  • Ensure efficient and accountable use of financial and physical resources.
  • Mobilize resources for the School through projects, partnerships, and consultancies.
  • Monitor the School’s financial performance and ensure compliance with institutional policies.

7. Collaboration and Partnerships

  • Develop and maintain linkages with industry, government agencies, and other institutions for academic and research collaboration.
  • Facilitate internship and industrial attachment opportunities for students.
  • Represent the School in institutional committees and external academic or professional forums.
  • Promote internationalization of programs through exchange initiatives and joint research activities.

8. Policy Implementation and Institutional Governance

  • Ensure effective implementation of Institute policies, statutes, and regulations within the School.
  • Participate in governance structures, including the Academic Board, Management Committee, and other relevant bodies.
  • Provide regular reports to the Deputy Principal (Academics) on School activities, challenges, and achievements.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, institutional reviews, and accreditation exercises.

9. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Monitor teaching, research, and administrative performance within the School.
  • Prepare periodic reports on program delivery, academic performance, and resource utilization.
  • Conduct internal assessments and contribute to institutional audits and evaluations.
  • Recommend improvements for quality enhancement and operational efficiency.
