Quality Assurance Officer

The Quality Assurance Officer supports the Director of Internal Audit, Risk Management, and Quality Assurance in promoting and maintaining institutional quality standards across all academic and administrative functions.

The role ensures that San Institute’s teaching, research, and service delivery meet or exceed the benchmarks set by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and the Institute’s internal quality policies.

The officer fosters a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and compliance with quality assurance frameworks.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Officer

The Quality Assurance Officer performs the following functions, among others:

1. Quality Assurance Framework and Policy Implementation

  • Support the development and implementation of the Institute’s Quality Assurance Policy and Framework.
  • Ensure alignment of institutional policies, programs, and processes with national and international quality standards.
  • Facilitate the integration of quality assurance practices into all academic and administrative units.
  • Participate in reviewing institutional strategies to enhance quality performance.

2. Academic Quality and Standards

  • Monitor academic quality across programs, schools, and departments.
  • Coordinate the design, approval, and review of academic programs in line with NCHE and Institute requirements.
  • Ensure that teaching, assessment, and learning resources meet approved standards.
  • Evaluate academic performance indicators and identify areas for improvement.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Develop and maintain institutional quality indicators, performance metrics, and benchmarks.
  • Conduct periodic quality audits and internal evaluations of academic and administrative functions.
  • Assess compliance with established procedures, regulations, and performance standards.
  • Prepare reports on evaluation outcomes and follow up on implementation of recommendations.

4. Accreditation and Compliance

  • Coordinate program accreditation and re-accreditation processes with NCHE and other regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare documentation and evidence required for institutional audits and external evaluations.
  • Track progress on accreditation recommendations and ensure continuous compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accreditation and quality documentation records.

5. Institutional Self-Assessment and Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate institutional self-assessment exercises and internal quality reviews.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from students, faculty, alumni, and stakeholders to inform quality improvement.
  • Support departments in implementing corrective and preventive measures.
  • Promote a culture of evidence-based decision-making and continuous enhancement.

6. Capacity Building and Awareness

  • Organize workshops and seminars on quality assurance, curriculum review, and best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Train academic and administrative staff on quality standards and evaluation processes.
  • Promote awareness of quality assurance roles and responsibilities at all levels.
  • Support departments in developing internal quality monitoring systems.

7. Collaboration and Coordination

  • Work closely with the Risk Management Officer and Internal Auditor to ensure alignment between quality, risk, and compliance functions.
  • Collaborate with Deans, Heads of Department, and the Academic Registrar on academic quality improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with NCHE and other accrediting bodies on quality-related matters.
  • Represent the Institute in quality assurance networks, forums, and professional bodies.

8. Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare periodic reports on quality assurance activities, achievements, and challenges.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of quality reviews, evaluations, and recommendations.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the Director and Principal.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports to management, NCHE, and other relevant authorities.

In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Quality Assurance Officer ensures that San Institute continues to uphold academic and administrative excellence. The position promotes accountability, compliance, and innovation in higher education delivery — driving San Institute toward its vision of being a Center of Academic and Professional Excellence in Computing, Research, and Innovation.
